Do you smell fall in the air?

I just returned from the Half Moon Bay pumpkin fest and if that doesn’t put you in the fall mood, nothing will. Here is my top five list of Fall Faves. Send yours along and you’ll be added in the October drawing for a Starbuck’s card and signed book.

1. Mallocreme pumpkins. Oh, how I love them!

2. Cooler weather means cozy hunkering down days ahead.

3. I can fish out all my fave soup recipes. Anyone up for sausage lentil soup?

4.  Fall back – BOY could I use another hour of sleep!

5.  Upcoming holidays to share with family.

Great post! Here’s my list, short as it is:

    1. Birthdays. We have 3 between 10/15 and 11/18. Used to be more but some of the older folks have passed on now.
    2. Candy corn, I love it but I really love the chocolate candy corn!
    3. World Series but only if the Tigers are in it! Sad…so close but they got beat out this year!
    4. Time changes….I hate time changes…takes me at least a week to adjust. Could never figure out the benefits of DST not the extended length of DST is even more idiotic!

    Fall Favourites …
    1. The leaves – the colours, the crunchiness underfoot, the piles to dive into or throw on others …
    2. Apple picking ! A new tradition in the last 3 years that we are really enjoying.
    3. Cranberry sauce – I used to buy cans of it for myself and even send some overseas to Canadian friends that were far away, until at a friend’s insistence I actually read the back of the bag and found out how easy it was to make myself. Now I make it with honey or maple syrup, and both my son and I can sit and eat it by the spoonful.
    4. The time shift – I too love the extra hour of sleep ! (Though we pay for it in the spring …).
    5. So many celebrations … my mother’s birthday, canadian thanksgiving, hallowe’en, …

Here in the Northeast, Fall is a wonderful time. Here are some of my favorite things, which help explain why:
    1) It is beautiful to see the leaves change colors. Driving through my town, I get to see an explosion of vivid reds, yellows, and oranges. Simply magnificent, and it is almost worth all that raking of leaves!
    2) Pumpkin pie – especially right out of the oven. Imagining the smell, taste, and texture, my mouth is watering already!
    3) The briskness of the air. Not cold enough yet to need to wear a jacket, but a great nip in the air that keeps you invigorated.
    4) Candy corn – my guilty little pleasure.
    5) The World Series (even the my Mets have forgotten how to make it to the big game) and football starting up..

  5. Each year my brother would search and search until he found the LARGEST most incredibly huge pumpkin ever, in few town radius. We had a bay window with a wide shelf at waist-high, and he would display this pumpkin (often a hundred pounds!) with pride. Those pumpkins would last all the way into Valentine’s Day before caving in. Good times!
