Yogi and I recently started up a new hobby that we’ve been longing to begin for years. We bought a dollhouse, of sorts, and painted it up. Yesterday we visited a store CHOCK FULL of everything you could want to decorate your wee little house. We left with some starter furniture, wallpaper, carpet and a 
miniscule roasted turkey (which Yogi felt our dollhouse would not be complete without.) Several hundred dollars later and our dollhouse is looking more like a home. I am getting the sense that this is going to be an expensive hobby but having my 14-year-old want to discuss options and embark on a craftie adventure with me? Priceless!

I love to read, to xstitch, scrapbook.
Dana – consider going to flooring stores and asking for leftover scraps … usually they will be free or very low cost. We did this when my daughter had to make an environmentally efficient house model. Oh, and paint/wall paper stores too can give you old sample books which are often enough for walls and walls of a doll house.

I create things with glass. Stained glass and fused glass and lampwork beads. Just started making leather braided, (Celtic knots) jewelry with the beads attached. I run a Veterinary Hospital and I sell these things with the proceeds going to our Rescue Fund. We often take in rescues, particularly these days, if they are found or if people are unable to care for them or sometimes people just need a little help paying for things. We supply what’s needed and the Rescue Fund helps to cover our costs. It’s a win win. I get to continue creating new designs and I have someplace to put them.

My husband and I run a private shelter for special needs cats. They are not up for adoption. They are our pets. Almost all of our cats require daily medication or some other form of care. We have a one-eyed cat who sat in shelter for 4 years because nobody wanted him, for example. He’s even a purebred cat. That’s our hobby besides reading and music and stereo equipment.

When I’m not reading, writing or doing research, scrapbooking is a biggy here (my mother never warned me her addiction was contagious!). When the weather permits (i.e. it’s not blazing hot and just the idea of handling fabric, thread or fiber doesn’t make me itch), I also crochet (stuffed animals most), cross stitch (baby afghans are favorite project) and spinning (making yarn). For my spinning, I use alpaca and wool and am working on learning to spin dog hair, which has been a real challenge. I started out using a drop spindle then moved to a wheel, guided in the venture by an experienced spinner.

what an amazing hobby! i love the detail of small houses like that. very fun!
i’ve gone through stages with hobbies….beading, crochet, scrapbooking….but only one has stuck for good: music. i play piano and sing. the lord gave me the desire to do so, and i feel his presence when i’m playing, and his peace is close behind the first note played. very fun and freeing.

My mother and I did a dollhouse when I was a girl. Loved it!
I like to scrapbook with my own daughters. We laugh and eat and watch chick flicks. My four girls are age 17, 15, 11, and 9.
I’m also learning to play the guitar and like to read, blog, cross stitch, knit, crochet, and more.

I have 2 hobbies dear to my heart…knitting chemo hats and prayer shawls for cancer patients and pottery. I love to throw mud on a wheel and end up with a bowl or vase or mug…and sometimes a mess. lol

James, hubby, and I started a new hobby in March called Geocaching. We have the best time looking for caches and spending time together. When he’s not around, I love to make beaded jewelry 🙂 This is fun seeing everyone’s different crafts.

I love stitching on plastic canvas, especially suncatchers. I stitch 125 ornaments each year for homebound and nursing home folks…this year Christmas suncatcher ornaments. Plastic canvas mingled with beads creates 3 dimensional pieces that are beautiful. When I started stitching I wasn’t aware of all the great items that can be made using simply yarn and sheets of plastic canvas. It is an relatively inexpensive craft and very easy to learn. I also am an avid reader, knit and am teaching myself to crochet.
