1. I like both, but I usually like the shorter ones if I don’t have a lot of time to read.
2. I like both.
3. I like both.
4. I prefer small town setting but urban is good, too.
I know this isn’t a lot of help for a survey, but I like to read all kinds.

I like a long book if I am really into it, a short one if it isn’t quite as good as I thought it would be. I like to know my villian, but I don’t like him to be intrigal to the story – like every other chapter is his devious plotting. I like both types of heros. A small town setting is my favorite – less gritty.

I like long and short novels. I like my villains to be unknown so I can try to guess who the villain might be. Depending on the story, I would like either an everyman or military/cop hero. My preference in setting depends on the storyline. I do prefer smalltown settings more than urban.

Shorter books; unknown villains; everyman heros; small town or urban, doesn’t matter much to me these days.
Any of these answers could change though as long as it’s a good story.

I like long books, but in between enjoy short ones. I like the classic mystery setting, with clues given but the villain reveled at the end. Everyday heros, although I don’t mind a cop as long as he’s a well-rounded personality, and prefer small towns.
That said, I’ve enjoyed many shorter cop stories that start out with the villain up front and take place in a city. It all depends.

To me, I like variety! I’ve read books with all of those things you mentioned and liked them all! That’s why reading books is fantastic! Sometimes I love reading a long book and getting so much extra detail & extra character interaction but then other times, I like a quick read! Sometimes I like to know the villian right away and follow his every move where other times I want to try to figure it out and know at the end…..same thing with # 3 and 4…… 🙂

1,3, & 4 either way is long as the story is good. I do have a tendency to like stories with police officers, but my husband is a retired policeman so I may be prejudiced that way. As far as the villain, I don’t mind if it’s unknown but I like to have a little bit of an inkling about it not just a big surprise at the end of the book.

1. The longer the novel the better I like it. Read OUTLANDER in one night & it was over a 1,000 pages

250 is a little short and 400 a little long.
I like guessing the “Who is it?”.
Every day hero in a small town setting. Unless you’re in a military type environment.

I love both the shorter and the longer. It depends on my mood at the time. I love both upfront and unknown villains. Everyman type hero. Small town settings.
